SO! Y’all. I’m doing a big blog refresh, and I found this post in my drafts folder from LAST YEAR … but it’s SO pretty I have to share it!! If you follow my IG Stories, you probably saw that my sis and I took a little adventure to San Diego, California last May!
She had a CPA work conference, so I suggested we go a day or two early on me to sightsee! Andddd…us East Coast girls were so surprised to see the difference in the trees, water and coastal hills from our coast to California’s!
RECAP: Favorites!!
1. Weather – I packed SHORTS because in Florida, it’s currently a flaming 104 degrees. Shorts were TOO cold in May! Luckily I packed ONE pair of leggings and workout capris to hike in, but that was it! Ha! Cali weather is PERFECTLY warm – minus the humidity!
2. The Flowers. Oh the flowers. They were everywhere!!! Our coast has a few blooms here and there, but mostly grass and tan/green muted colors. California’s coastal hills were covered with rainbow explosions of tropical, colorful blossoms that packed some punch!! Orange, purple, yellow and cacti cascade down the mountainous coasts in all shapes and sizes.
PLACES we went:
1. We stayed at the Kona Kai Resort on Shelter Island. It was really only about 15 short minutes to the San Diego National Airport, which was amazing!
2. Adventure Day 1: After sleeping in after our 3AM arrival, we began randomly wandering for food 🙂 Haha!!! No, really, we zipped north about 20 minutes and found the cutest little Pancake house. Either we were super hungry – or they legit had the BEST Columbian coffee I’ve ever had – but either way – I was a happy girl that morning!! We literally just drove around and sight-saw, and stumbled upon this amazing sea lion cove in La Jolla Cove (which smelled less than pleasant BUT was WELL worth the gorgeous visit!!!)
3. Adventure Day 2 – Torrey Pines – I’d seen pics of this gorgeous place on Instagram. We didn’t hike much, but we did enjoy seeing the coast. The sand is different and
4. On the way to Torrey Pines, we realized Los Angeles was only about 1.5hrs away – so we decided to make a day of it and went on a whim!
5. Hollywood Boulevard – We saw the stars on the sidewalk, Hollywood & Vine, and drove around like the legit tourists that we were!! We did catch a peek at the Hollywood sign, I wanted to share a pic with yall! But, we were too far away for a good shot!
6. Rodeo Drive – *my personal favorite* Take me back to Pretty Woman!! This was my favorite place!! We didn’t have time to stop and shop (or find parking for that matter), but I loved seeing Prada, Versache, Tory Burch and Coach in literally the prettiest street I’ve ever seen in my life! The white roses lining the street were insane!! I could literally go there everyday haha!
7. Beverly Hills. This was an amazing place as well!!
8. Back to the Kona Kai Resort – it was so beautiful so we made time to enjoy the pool, catch up on some sister chats, and hop in the hot tub. The staff at Kona Kai was so amazing, and they make it so enjoyable! I grabbed several pics of it on the last day as well!
Leaving San Diego was just as stunning as seeing it for the first time. They flew us out over the water before turning back over land, and it was the most stunning sight I’ve seen in a long time!!
Flying from East Coast to West Coast made for quite a long day of travel, but it was so worth it and I’m so glad we went to see the other side!!
